Doyle graduated from Deshler High School in 1949 where he lettered in football, basketball, and baseball. He was the starting quarterback on the 1949 Tiger squad that was undefeated and won the Tennessee Valley Conference. He was named to the Tri-Cities All-Star Football team in 1947. Even though he is remembered for being a great Deshler athlete, it was in the area of community service that Doyle reached even greater heights. In 1969 he helped to organize a youth football league in Tuscumbia and coached the "Green Wave" team for 24 years. His influence on the young people in the city is still present today in the many lives he touched during that period of time.
