Class of 2012

Michael palmer

Inductee

Described by legendary football coaches and Colbert County Sports Hall of Fame members Buddy Moore and Bud Mills as one of the most gifted backs they ever faced, Michael graduated from Colbert County High School in 1963. He played halfback for Coach C.T. Manley and was selected to the All-Area Team and the Alabama Sports Writers All-State Team in 1962. He led all Shoals area teams in scoring during his senior season, scoring 5 touchdowns in the Lauderdale County game that year. Known for his speed and elusive running style he was feared  as and outstanding punt and kick-off return man. Following high school, he was offered scholarships to several colleges including Auburn University, but turned the offers down to work and start a family.
